Sweet and sour pork

The most popular pork and shiitake mushroom dish is sweet-and-sour pork. The dried shiitake gives the pork a deep, rich flavor.

Originally a Chinese dish, it became very tasty when you use Japanese dried shiitake.

Here's a secret to elevate the taste of your sweet-and-sour pork. Simmer the shiitake to perfection before adding them to the dish. This technique enhances their flavor and texture, making your dish extra tasty.

When braised shiitake are added to sweet-and-sour pork, they add a wonderful flavor accent, just like pineapple in sweet-and-sour pork!

Children will also love it, as once the shiitake are braised, the strong aroma disappears and the umami becomes thicker.

Next time you make more braised shiitake, divide them into small portions and freeze them for cooking at any time!
